If  you can't find   
"Accommodation" in a smaller town look at the largest town nearby as it may be listed there.  
It is always best to telephone before taking your pet to a pub. Although they may say "Pets Welcome"  Landlords and policies frequently change.  
Most Landlords prefer you to contact the pub when making a booking. It saves the landlord commission so you may get a better deal. 
Just about every pub welcomes families with children, but please check   and make sure the pub has facilities  for your children's ages

Family run, family friendly pub. I'm afraid we haven't heard from anyone who has stayed here, but the pub and food reviews are excellent.
